Re-Imagine Europe

Re-Imagine Europe is an international project, which binds together young people interested in new forms of art. With help of the European Union programme called Creative Europe and thanks to the collaboration of 10 organisations, many artists have a chance to perform in various countries. Re-Imagine itself defines the mission: "Responding to the social and political challenges that we are currently facing. Rising nationalism, climate change and migration are drawing European countries apart, while technological advances continue to change the ways that we interact, urging us to explore new modes of operation." Within this project we can experience different activities such as: workshops, lectures, artistic residences. It will last for 4 years.

A4 is also the proud member of this huge project. During NEXT Festival, which took a place on the 22-25th of November, we could experience the results of collaboration of 3 international artists. Fennesz — experienced digital artist well known from the second half of 90s, living in Vienna (AT). David Kollár — guitarist and composer from Prešov (SK). Zden Hlinka — visual artist screening live his creative forms, author of his custom software, coming from Bratislava (SK).

The other audio-visual event during NEXT was slovak-czech project Číslizvuk / Doe / Kudla, all based on historical synthesizer. Číslizvuk itself is a modulator invented in Prague at the Radio and Television Research Institute in 1977. The artist — Jano Doe — was in charge of music created on this original device. Adéla Kudlová accompanied him with original visual performance. All built on live coding — real-time music and video programming on the stage.
We personally can't wait what Re-Imagine Europe will bring in the future! This programme is a huge opportunity for us, as the collaborating organisation, but also for audience and artists. Stay tuned for more!
